With The Man now well and truly back terrorising Friday nights and RK-Bro once again firing on all cylinders, it finally feels as though WWE is finding its feet in the wake of returning to live audience entertainment... Well, sort of.
This still being Vinnie Mac's playground, the last seven days have brought with them a showcase of just how terribly built the Raw tag team division has been in recent memory, a reminder of just how unwanted the presence of Logan Paul is on WWE programming, and the sight of a former NXT Champion losing a match due to an attempt to high five his future "son-in-law".
It wasn't all doom and gloom when it came to the alternative to the hottest wrestling product on the planet that is the Land of All Elite, however. The return of a Demon King and Beast Incarnate was both teased and announced, respectively, on SmackDown. A number of Extreme Rules contests were made official on Monday night, including a The Viper vs. The Almighty contest which feels surprisingly fresh. And Blackheart beat the sh*t out of NXT's resident monster Yorkshireman on Tuesday evening. Lovely stuff.
Sure, there's no escaping the fact that two of the company's most reliable and beloved faces chose to jump ship to the black and gold of Tony Khan's army on Sunday night. But, news of Vince McMahon and Bruce Pritchard perhaps not having quite as much control over the future of NXT was at least something worth celebrating, right? Yes, your writer is clutching a multi-coloured straws.
If all else fails, at least we'll always have the Instagram treat that is Asuka to keep us sane...
