Shane McMahon is a baffling individual. Being a McMahon is certain to leave you a few sandwiches short of a picnic, and Shane has indulged in bizarre behaviour over the years, but the apex of this came at the 2022 Royal Rumble. Largely accepted as the worst Rumble event of all time, Shane was one of the lead bookers of the men's Rumble match. Naturally, he used this position of power to get himself over in some comedically bad ways.

First up, Shane booked himself to beat up an actual Mixed Martial Artist in Matt Riddle. Shane's obsession with the UFC is well documented, and he insisted he look strong against an actual fighter, with rumors also suggesting that he wanted to have a spot where he got the better of Brock Lesnar in a striking contest.

Shane McMahon came into the match at number 28 (after a backstage dispute with Randy Orton, in which he was trying to insist the 14-time World Champion go out before him and let him enter at 29). Shane then eliminated former Universal Champion Kevin Owens and booked himself to be in the final three men left in the match.

This laughable chain of events led to Shane never being involved in WWE creative again, but he was still reportedly paid over $800,000/£700,000 for his work on the night that ruined his credibility for good.
