25 Worst Wrestling Moments Of 2022
13. SCRYPTS
Wrestling fans have had many mysteries to solve in recent years. Who is the masked man? Who attacked Jade Cargill? Who is The Devil? So on and so forth. It's part of our culture as a fandom to be teased in this way, opening the door for speculation, tension, and drama.
One of the least compelling mysteries in recent years happened in NXT across October and November of 2022, when the WWE Performance Center received a series of anonymous voice messages. An entity under the name of SCRYPTS began leaving these prophecies of doom, using a "hello Sydney"-style voice modulator and spraypainting 'SCRYPTS' on the front of the WWE PC.
The problem was that these venomous messages felt limp and unthreatening, as if Butters from South Park had written them via ChatGPT. After weeks of cryptic threats being shown on NXT, SCRYPTS finally made his debut on November 22nd. He wore a mask that looked like it'd been bought on Temu for $5 and incessantly used his hand to write in the air, as if using an imaginary quill (presumably because scripts are written, but who knows really). This absolute rubbish somehow went on for six months before Axiom finally unmasked SCRYPTS in May 2023, revealing him to be former 24/7 Champion, Reggie.
