LA Knight is a man who has immense levels of fan support among WWE fans. His viability as a World Champion is a debate that has raged for the past few years, with it feeling as if fans and creative are often on different pages when it comes to The Megastar. Regardless of which side of that argument you find yourself on, Knight's status as a popular star is undeniable.

After an enjoyable run in NXT, which included a fun feud with Grayson Waller and him holding Ted Dibiase's Million Dollar Championship, fans eagerly awaited LA Knight's main roster debut in May 2022. Except, LA was stripped of his character entirely and repackaged as Max Dupri, presumably as Vince McMahon's infinite wisdom didn't see value in LA Knight as a performer.

Dupri was given the role of manager and an incredibly bad pair of red-framed glasses, recruited Mace and Mansoor, and tried to sell the Maximum Male Models stable. Fans were left entirely cold by the dated concept of wrestlers who were more bothered about their appearance than winning matches, and the newly christened Max Dupri was written off TV due to his frustration with the situation, as Knight was allegedly ready to quit WWE. Almost as soon as Vince McMahon retired and Triple H took over creative, LA Knight was given his name and gimmick back and went on to find the popularity he enjoys today.
