25 Worst Wrestling Moments Of 2024

12. Billy Gunn Vs Jay White (AEW Dynamite, April 3rd)

Chris Jericho
AEW

A sublime-to-ridiculous series of days for Jay White in October (more on that elsewhere in this article) summed up how up and down his AEW career has been thus far, but the calamitous events that befell his Dynamite main event with Christian Cage weren't even the most bewildering of his 2024. Those occurred in what was basically a protracted squash against Billy Gunn on an April edition of Dynamite.

Despite the age gap between the pair and a dynamic that should have found god-tier devious heel White strategically destroying the aged veteran, the story was instead that Gunn was so massive and tough that White could only run and cheat and run and cheat to even stand a chance in there.

A one-sided beatdown more than anything resembling a contest, it came to an end when 'Switchblade' yet again ran then cheated. He drew a disqualification with a low blow, having hid behind The Gunns (Billy sons) to avoid any more of his wrath. It wasn't just one of the worst moments of the year. It was one of the weirdest.
