25 'WWE Superstars' Matches That Were Actually Awesome

16. Dolph Ziggler vs. Ryback (January 9, 2014)

Following his brief stint as World Heavyweight champion in the spring of 2013, Dolph Ziggler seemingly fell off the face of the earth. He briefly feuded with his ex-partners AJ Lee and Big E going into SummerSlam, but for the remainder of the year, Ziggler was involved in nothing notable. He spent most of his time wrestling on the pay-per-view pre-shows against the likes of Damien Sandow and Fandango, losing more often than not. Thus, it wasn't much of a surprise when he was slated to face Ryback on the January 9 edition of 'Superstars'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFuDxxUoRls Ziggler and Ryback had faced off before, but they were never given an ample amount of time to "show off" their skills. 'Superstars' provided them with that platform. Ziggler's stellar selling ability made Ryback's hard-hitting style look that much more brutal. As always, the crowd desperately wanted to see the underdog Ziggler emerge victorious, but Ryback asserted his dominance by destroying Ziggler with ease. Ziggler suffered a concussion during the contest and was put on the shelf for several weeks.
