25 'WWE Superstars' Matches That Were Actually Awesome

17. Cody Rhodes vs. Ted DiBiase (October 27, 2011)

In June 2008, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase aligned after Rhodes ditched his then-partner Hardcore Holly to win the World Tag Team Championships with DiBiase. They'd reign as champions for the better part of that year before joining forces with Randy Orton to form The Legacy. Rhodes and DiBiase dominated the tag team ranks until the spring of 2010 where the group split and they all went their separate ways. It wasn't until the spring of 2011 when Rhodes and DiBiase reunited on the SmackDown brand with DiBiase serving as Rhodes' lackey. After getting fed up with the way Rhodes was treating him, DiBiase broke away from his former friend that September and finally embarked on his long awaited babyface run. However, due to their feud being rushed, virtually no one in attendance in Buffalo cared for their Intercontinental Championship match at Night of Champions. It was a good match that saw Rhodes successfully retain his title, but it was obvious it had the potential to be so much better with crowd and storyline support. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xm2rxo_cody-rhodes-vs-ted-dibiase-superstars-27-10-2011-vo_sport Prior to their rematch on the October 27 'Superstars', DiBiase gradually got over with audiences as a fan favorite, making his match with Rhodes mean that much more. They contested a very competitive contest that once again ended with Rhodes getting his hand raised. Why this rivalry was never rekindled is a mystery to many.
