25 'WWE Superstars' Matches That Were Actually Awesome

12. The Miz vs. Alex Riley (April 26, 2012)

When The Miz and Alex Riley first joined forces on the second season of WWE NXT (when it was still a competition) in June 2010, it triggered a near-year long friendship between the two. Despite how badly Miz treated Riley and no matter how much he neglected him at times, Riley was also at his side for moral support. He was there for him when he won the Money in the Bank briefcase, when he captured the WWE Championship and even when he won the main event of WrestleMania 27. However, it became obvious over time that Miz solely kept Riley around so he could remain champion for as long as he did, so it was only a matter of time before Riley turned on Miz in May 2011. The two feuded over the course of that summer, trading victories on pay-per-view and on Raw. However, the rivalry was randomly cut short in August and Riley was sparsely featured on the flagship show for the remainder of the show. He was relegated to working 'WWE Superstars' going in 2012, and once Miz also became an enhancement talent, they crossed paths on the Thursday night show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uoh9FpMA8g It was a long awaited rematch between two of WWE's biggest rivals and it lived up to expectations. Surprisingly enough, it was their best bout to date and it felt like nothing had changed in that last year. Miz was set to contend for the United States Championship against Santino Marella that Sunday at Extreme Rules, so it was only logical that Miz went over.
