25 'WWE Superstars' Matches That Were Actually Awesome
23. Christian vs. Zack Ryder (February 11, 2010)
When Zack Ryder was sent packing to the ECW brand in the 2009 WWE Supplemental Draft, not many people thought he'd success as a singles star. He had spent his entire career up until this point as a tag team competitor alongside Curt Hawkins and it was interesting to split them up. Despite that, Ryder reinvented himself upon his arrival in the Land of Extreme, cutting his hair and sporting a new attire. Now referring to himself as the Long Island Iced Z, Ryder really came into his own in his various matches with Christian over the ECW Championship later that year, proving he was more than just a gimmick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfN2w--vP1w In early February 2010, it was announced that WWE's ECW was on the verge of closing its doors for good. On the final episode of 'WWE Superstars' to feature members of the brand, it was only appropriate that longtime rivals Christian and Ryder did battle. As they had done many times before, the two contested an excellent match that showcased what ECW was all about in its later years: not hardcore wrestling, but just wrestling. Although he had the support of his valet Rosa Mendes in his corner, Ryder still came up short against Captain Charisma, but changed people's perception of him in defeat.
