25 Years Of WWE Raw Mistakes

19. 1999 - Terri Runnels Miscarries (January 4th)

Shane McMahon Vince McMahon
WWE Network

Jim Cornette has carved out a niche as quite the divisive character in the modern age, espousing views on the modern product that fall somewhere between niche and nonsensical depending on taste. He was, however, bang on about the Terri Runnels miscarriage.

Buried on the same broadcast 'Mrs Foley's Baby Boy' won his first WWE Title, pregnant Terri getting bumped and the heartbreaking histrionics that followed were hideously out of place on a wrestling show. As Cornette eloquently reports how he put it to scribe Vince Russo at the time, "They believe these people are the people are on TV. If it's phoney and they don't believe she had a miscarriage, it's in bad taste and they'll turn the TV off. If they believe it, then they'll be uncomfortable and still turn the TV off".

WWE were only fortunate Tony Schiavone hadn't yet directed viewers over from Nitro.
