3 Ups & 11 Downs From WWE Raw (Jan 18)

6. High-Level Hilarious Comedy

Drew McIntyre impersonator
WWE.com

Nothing says “side-splitting comedy” like having Duane Gill dust off his one-note impersonation of Goldberg. At least that’s what WWE thinks.

Miz & John Morrison’s Dirt Sheet promised us an appearance from Goldberg in advance of his WWE Championship match at Royal Rumble, only for us to be “treated” to the return of Gillberg. And God bless Duane Gill, who went all-in with his impression of the Hall-of-Famer, but we’ve seen this bait-and-switch act before when Goldberg came back to the company, and it plays to diminishing returns each time.

Throw in some dude also impersonating Drew McIntyre so Miz & Morrison could riff a little more and you’ve got a trainwreck of a segment. Miz, after acting like a goof once again, then tried to get serious and pledge to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase and win the world title at the Rumble.

Because of course this mid-card comedy act is one step away from the world title.
