3 Ups & 2 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Feb 8)

2. The X Division Is Fine

Alongside the aforementioned Callihan/King match, there were two other contests on this week's episode that demonstrated what a stellar state the X Division is currently in. Those matches were Trey Miguel versus Rohit Raju, and the Crist brothers against Rich Swann and Willie Mack.

Both of these matches were rather good showcases for the division. Trey and Rohit's match was fairly short, which was a shame, but it showed us all just how good they can be. It's not often this column praises something involving The Desi Hit Squad.

Meanwhile, the show opening tag match pitted four of the division's top guys against each other. Right now, Rich Swann is without a doubt the best pick to be the centrepiece. Most viewers will be familiar with him from his WWE work, and his work ethic is one of the best in the company. We've seen what sort of things he can pull off inside the ropes, and he's a perfect fit for the X Division.

The division has always been Impact's top selling point; after all, it's responsible for their only Dave Meltzer rated five star match. Judging by the guys they've got just now and the matches they're putting on, they could be on their way to gaining the second.
