3 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (April 12 - Results & Review)

Ups...

3. Jay White Bounces Back

Jay White Matt Sydal
AEW

People did not like Jay White's match vs. Billy Gunn on Dynamite recently, so it was always gonna be important for 'Switchblade' to bounce back. Whilst there was nothing earth-shattering about his Rampage match with Matt Sydal, it was more along the lines of what fans want to see from White.

The final few minutes were excellent.

Sydal looked like he might actually spring a surprise, and frantically climbed the turnbuckles to go high risk. Sensing danger, Jay came to his senses and shut the headliner down like he knew winning was essential. Meanwhile, The Gunns stalked ringside and added to the match by encouraging their stablemate from first bell to last.

White isn't as big a deal as he was when he first arrived in AEW full-time. That's clear. However, he is still a stunning pro wrestler when the occasion calls for it, and this one definitely did. Here's hoping this is the beginning of a road to recovery for the ex-New Japan man.
