3 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage: Winter Is Coming (Dec 15 - Results & Review)

Ups...

3. More Reps, Please!

Anna Jay Red Velvet
AEW

Unlike in the headliner, neither Anna Jay nor Red Velvet went overboard in a bid to impress anybody with flashy high spots. Instead, the duo worked a tidy, competitive effort that refused to outstay its welcome and left this guy wanting to see more. That's the sign of a well-worked match, people.

AEW cleverly showed brief clips of their first battle back in 2020. It's amazing to see how far these women have come as workers since then, so hopefully 2024 will be a breakout year for both. They've got some tough competition in the division from the likes of Skye Blue and Willow Nightingale, but they deserve spotlight too.

More reps on shows like Rampage wouldn't hurt.

Fans were into what they were seeing too. Texas didn't pop like crazy for Anna or Velvet like they did for the Von Erich clan (obviously) or the WWE All-Stars style main event, but the live crowd did react and that's a step in the right direction for two women who are all-to-regularly overlooked.
