3 Ups & 3 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Feb 1)

2. A Hardcore Hypocrite

Eli Drake's character in Impact right now sees him going on a venture to remove any traces of hardcore wrestling in the current product. Whether that includes tangling with the likes of Abyss, Raven, and Tommy Dreamer, the former World Champion has been rather successful. It's not been all good news though.

He teamed with Eddie Edwards this week against Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz of The Rascalz. There were some terrific spots in this one, including a picture-perfect dropkick courtesy of Xavier. The end of the match saw Drake use a kendo stick (Eddie's named it Kenny because why not), despite being against that style of wrestling. Sure, it got his team the win, but it came at the expense of making himself look like a complete hypocrite.

Eddie and Eli as a team seems as if it'll have some interesting moments. They just need to decide if they like using weapons or if they're against them. Otherwise, they'll look like a pair of phonies. Not a good look for two ex-World Champions.
