3 Ups & 3 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Feb 1)

1. Keep Your Enemies Close

A mammoth tag match main evented the night, featuring the current World Champion and the three challengers vying for that title. Brian Cage, despite having made it his mission to destroy everyone en-route to capturing the gold, thought it'd be a grand idea to team with champ Johnny Impact. As we've come to realise in wrestling, unlikely partners don't always last long (bar a few).

On the whole, the match was alright. There were some impressive feats of power from The Machine (he German suplexed a man the size of Moose for goodness sake!) as well as some displays of athletic prowess from The Mayor of Slamtown. However, an accidental Flying Chuck Kick to his partner cost Impact the match as Brian Cage watched the champion be pinned.

Now, it does make a bit of sense as to why Cage would do this. He was kicked in the face by his own partner (albeit accidentally), so of course he wouldn't want to help him out. But it now means Moose has earned a pinfall victory over Johnny instead, surely making him the next challenger for the championship. Cage has essentially pushed himself marginally down the rankings for a title shot.
