3 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW: Battle Of The Belts

Ups...

3. Sticking It Back On Sammy

Right, enough grumbling like an old fart who wants wrestling to bring back the humble arm drag as a finish.

AEW were not at fault for Cody Rhodes missing the show. They had a decision to make, and they quickly inserted his brother Dustin into the match with Guevara and turned it into an interim title crowning. It's hard to argue with their logic there, because now they've got another match to build towards rather than doing nothing.

Plus, Cody can whinge about beating Sammy on Christmas Day then seeing the Inner Circle man win gold again when he was on the bench. Those are promos Rhodes must cut before that title unification match (whenever it's going to happen).

At first, it did seem like Dustin would get the belt and set up another brother vs. brother clash heading into Revolution, but that wasn't to be. AEW, correctly, view Sammy as the priority and a future linchpin they can build around.
