3 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Feb 24)

2. Great Fit As Opponents

Sammy Guevara Action Andretti
AEW

He might have the current character depth of a ballpoint pen, but Action Andretti shines when he's in-ring. Man, if only Tony Khan could marry that babyface fire and impressive athleticism with promo motivations that make fans care about everything he does. They'd be onto a winner.

Earlier grumbles aside, the Rampage main event was well-worked. Sammy Guevara and Action proved to be a nice fit together; it isn't their fault that AEW has done a shoddy job with character depth. All this pair could do was produce a slick, enjoyable match that was flashy without going overboard.

Mission accomplished.

It's easy for "flippy"/high-flying bouts like this one to come across as an elaborate dance sequence more than a match, but there was none of that here. If anything, Guevara played the more aggressive of the two, and Andretti got screwed in the end.
