4. Veering Towards Down

There was an upside to Hikaru Shida vs. Queen Aminata. It was competitive, at least, but the match suffered because neither woman particularly feels like they're building towards anything right now. That's particularly troubling in the case of Shida. Does anyone else just find her so uninspiring these days?! Woman needs some character.

Personally, this fan could've done without the stupid extended spot that saw both women willingly turn their backs and take some punishment. That looked daft, even more so because none of the announcers called it out or tried to discourage what they were seeing. Sure, just take punishment mid-match for no reason.

Aminata being all smiles post-loss as soon as Hikaru went for the hug was a bit off too. Admittedly, this could be one of those 'internet writer got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning' moans, but dunno...something just didn't click when watching the bout.

It was a bit bland.
