3 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Jan 12 - Results & Review)

Cracking wrestling, questionable decisions and birthday cake collide on AEW Rampage!

There's a heartwarming image that'll put a smile on even the most negative pro wrestling fan's face. "Negative" is actually the key word here, because -1 was in the house for this week's Rampage, and that kid is growing. His father would surely be proud, and big Brodie Lee would've been smiling himself when his son nabbed Jake Hager's hat.

Not even those hijinks could save Friday's headliner from feeling a tad mediocre though. AEW returned to Daily's Place hoping to rekindle some of the old fervour from events of yesteryear. The place certainly has a unique atmosphere, and Jacksonville loves it some All Elite Wrestling, but the main was a bum note in-ring.

There were similar struggles elsewhere on the card. However, two matches stood out from the rest - one was a "competitive squash", and the other a reminder of everything right with Eddie Kingston's rags-to-riches story during and post-Continental Classic. Kingston is loving his wrestling right now.

You might view some of the 'Downs' on hand here as a little harsh. That's fair enough, 'cause everyone's entitled to their own opinions. This writer just wants to see a little more in some places from AEW, and he expects Tony Khan to iron out some trope-related wrinkles.

Here's all the good and bad from Rampage!
