3 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE NXT UK Prelude (8 April)

2. The Wrong Result

We’ll speak more about the match in-depth later on in this article, but the outcome of WALTER and Rampage Brown’s NXT UK Championship contest wasn’t the right one. Rampage was clearly the man to end WALTER’s title reign here.

It’s simple; not a single person has had this much of a genuine chance at cracking the code to defeat the Austrian behemoth. In their first interaction on NXT UK soil, Rampage knocked WALTER off his feet with a single shove. It would take literally anyone else at least ten minutes of pure wrestling prowess to take down the Imperium man, and yet, Brown achieved this in a matter of seconds.

From that point, he deserved to be the man to dethrone WALTER. A-Kid couldn’t do it, Joe Coffey couldn’t do it, Tommaso Ciampa couldn’t do it, and Ilja Dragunov couldn’t do it. Rampage Brown could do it, though.

He’s still relatively new to NXT UK. While a pinfall loss to WALTER in such a high-profile match won’t derail him at all, it wasn’t the right direction for the Leeds native. A bad ending to an otherwise phenomenal match.
