3 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE SmackDown (18 Apr - Results & Review)

2. Rey Mysterio’s Possible Injury = Bummer

Bonafide legend Rey Mysterio appeared to get injured during the six man tag pitting him, Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix vs. American Made. If that rules him out of ‘Mania and the match vs. Chad Gable’s masked alter ego, then that’ll be a serious downer for everybody. Worst of all, there was no need for this six man to take place. It definitely wasn't essential to the Gable story arc or SmackDown as a show.

Fingers and toes crossed that Rey Rey is still able to go vs. El Grande Americano on Saturday night. The high-flying favourite doesn't have too many WrestleMania matches left in him, so it'd blow if one was cruelly snatched away from him around 24 hours before bell time. Rey Fenix would be an ideal, ready made replacement, but still. You've got to feel bad for Mysterio if he can’t make it.

Kudos to everyone else in this match for pulling things together on the fly, but it’s hard to be positive when a cherished legend gets hurt like this. WWE medics were being very careful with Mysterio before he vanished for proper treatment, and things didn't look good for him. Again, here's hoping this was precautionary and the bout vs. Americano can still go ahead as planned.

The shining positive in all of this bleak negativity is that Fenix looked great out there again, but yes - difficult to be upbeat and all smiles when Rey might be the latest big name to kiss goodbye to a spot in Las Vegas and live his own WrestleMania 41 nightmare.
