3 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE SmackDown (7 Feb)

2. Live Via Satellite

Bray Wyatt Goldberg
WWE

When WWE advertised that Goldberg would appear on SmackDown to announce his opponent for Super ShowDown, most probably expected the WCW legend to get all sweaty and intense inside the ring. Nope. He appeared via satellite instead and didn't bother to show up.

That was a disappointment.

Goldberg's in-ring promos have been great since he started making sporadic returns again in 2016. He feeds off the energy of live crowds better than most and always looked touched by their booming chants and excitement. That was all lost as he sat in his garage back home and verbally jousted with a mirthful Bray Wyatt.

This segment would've been improved instantly had WWE booked Goldberg to appear in person. He could've had the same back-and-forth with Wyatt but given San Jose the thrill of seeing a big star live. Then, if needed, Bill could've smashed some lower card guy in a dark match spot later.
