3 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE SmackDown (July 28)

LA Knight

LA Knight initially seemed like the prime pick to vanquish Theory and become new United States titleholder at SummerSlam, but...no. Instead, Adam Pearce decreed that Knight is to be stuck in some mind-numbing battle royal that'll act as a p*ss break on the PLE (if it even makes it onto the main card).

It's a challenge to get buzzed for anything WWE is doing with LA these days. He's trying his best, and is over with audiences, but the promotion seems content to f*ck up his organic push and go with a less-interesting story (Santos Escobar vs. Theory) instead.

Nah.

The multi-man Knight will be working feels so second-rate before it's even been booked, which is pretty damning. Consolation prizes can be fun here or there, but WWE clearly doesn't see LA in the same light as fans. Weird!
