Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn won an epic battle against the Usos to capture the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship Saturday night at WrestleMania 39. They spent the past several months mired in WWE’s ultimate good-versus-evil storyline, getting cheered wildly along the way.

So why then on the Raw after Mania would you have them face off against fellow fan favorites the Street Profits? KO and Zayn battling Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins produced some muted responses from fans because they wanted to cheer both teams. You also weren’t going to have the Profits play situational heels here, so it just made for a nice athletic exhibition.

This isn’t necessarily what you wanted for your new champs. Why not have them face villains like the Viking Raiders? Or American Alpha? It wouldn’t have been that much of a stretch for one of the heel duos to come out and accept the challenge. Then fans could rally behind the new champs and cheer them on to victory.

It just felt like this wasn’t designed to give Owens & Zayn the biggest reaction possible, which is what they deserved.
