Charlotte Flair Shotzi

Maybe nerves got the best of Shotzi during her opener with Charlotte Flair.

If so, that's understandable. This was the ex-NXT star's biggest solo match on SmackDown to date, but it's one she'll look back on with slight regret. Something was off here, because there were a few obvious miscues and botches - most of them, sadly, came from the newcomer.

It certainly didn't help that Flair dominated 90% of the match either. She has a tendency to gobble lesser opponents up, and that often made for a slow, turgid watch. The clear purpose of this bout was to help Shotzi bed in as an emerging threat without making her look like Charlotte's equal.

Did WWE get it right? Hmm. Sort of. Shotzi didn't impress the same way she did in tag-team bouts alongside Tegan Nox, and that's concerning. Vince McMahon isn't known to have a lot of patience these days - she'll need to come up a notch ASAP.
