3 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Oct 4)
2. The Success Of A Failure
No Mercy may not be the best-looking Pay-Per-View event of the year, but it's got two excellent matches that have been built up expertly. At the top of the hour, it was time for the final shots to be fired in the Dolph-Miz feud.
Miz opened up by debuting a "Dolphumentary" entitled "The Success of a Failure" - basically, it was a video spotlighting all of Dolph's failures during his long WWE career, going back to The Spirit Squad. Dolph cut an angry, impassioned promo about how he hadn't left WWE yet because he loved it and how he wasn't going to let Miz retire him.
The Intercontinental Champion hadn't hit his coup de grace yet. When Dolph finished, he brought out The Spirit Squad (well, Kenny and Mikey), who were in full cheerleader regalia. They led some anti-Dolph chants and then attacked "The Showoff," but Dolph fought them off, then fended off an attack from Miz.
It was a great segment, and now the best Intercontinental Title feud in some time is ready to come to an end. Let's see what happens.
