8. Vince McMahon's Threat To Paul Heyman

As noted, Vince McMahon staunchly defended WWE against moral watchdogs for years, using various defence lines about what they wouldn't use despite increasingly chaotic and controversial storylines. Guns, knives and rapes were all to be no-nos, even if it felt as though the company had been tiptoeing over each individual line for years.

In 2003, he managed to leap over those lines, hitting all of those flashpoints in a single promo as if actively trying to contradict himself.

Locked in a feud with The Undertaker, McMahon demanded that new SmackDown General Manager Paul Heyman summon 'The Deadman' to the show. When Heyman informed him that Undertaker wouldn’t appear until Survivor Series, Vince flew into an unhinged rage and unleashed one of the ugliest diatribes of his career.

McMahon ranted that "terrorists are gonna burn down The Undertaker’s house," that "his children are going to be kidnapped," and "his wife is gonna be raped by a motorcycle gang right in front of him." He then turned his fury on Heyman himself, threatening to strangle him to death before firing him. The segment was never referenced again, nor has it found its way into WWE’s nostalgic highlight reels. The organisation were luckier still that it dodged the attention of the Netflix documentary team in 2024, too.
