The wrestling world was left shocked when it was announced that the 2011 Rumble would be a 40-man match, bucking the well-established 30-man trend, with wrestlers from Raw, Smackdown and assorted legends making up the numbers. The Rumble itself could easily have gone either way: adding 10 wrestlers could've disrupted the well-regimented flow of the match or resulted in too many "filler" competitors, but luckily the 2011 match is regarded as one of the best of the more recent ones. Yes, it had its share of jobbers, but the biggest Rumble of all time also had a ton of entertaining and memorable spots, and proved that the WWE can pull it off should they ever return to the formula. After all, who wouldn't love to see a 40-man WWE-NXT Rumble in the future?
