Again, Rocky’s rise throughout 1998 was something to behold in sequence, but Kurt Angle’s was frankly unbelievable. He went from working Shawn Stasiak in a nothing match at Survivor Series 1999 to winning King Of The Ring in June 2000 then headlining SummerSlam by August.

That's fairytale stuff from the Olympian, but it's no wonder he was trusted so quickly. Even early on, Angle's PPV performances looked slick, and it was becoming obvious he was a complete natural who'd only get better in higher-profile spots against the very best on the roster.

Shockingly, Kurt's rapid rise has everyone else (including The Rock) licked. His remains one of the best rookie years ever.
