There’s an argument to be made that the rose started wilting in 2001. Some have even said ‘Attitude’ peaked in 2000 then tanked with the WCW/ECW invasion. However, it’s obvious from binge-watching all of these events in sequence that the WWF lost most of its mojo by the time calendars turned to ’02.

Everything was starting to feel more like WCW by then.

That's not meant as a positive. Even rivalries like Chris Jericho vs. The Rock had a 'less than' undertone to them that stood out. WWF wasn't quite stooping to WCW's crap in 2000, but nothing they had in store matched the scale of Austin vs. Rock or Rock vs. Triple H either.
