It perhaps says everything that a man once tipped to be a World Championship revelation in the company ended his tenure with one of the most TMZ-ish storylines in recent WWE history. His kayfabe split from Lana and re-emergence as a laid back babyface who just wanted to enjoy life pre-empted his release; company booking managed to grind Ru-Ru down.

If you follow Rusev on social media, you'll know that he's possibly made peace with the thought of never reaching the heady heights he once seemed guaranteed for in WWE. Some of his posts verge on the ridiculous, and they reek of a man who's totally at ease with his lot in life.

Should he fancy it, then a rebranded Rusev will tear up any company he pleases.
