31 Years Of WWE SummerSlam Mistakes

28. SummerSlam '90 - Rhodes To Nowhere

Despite involving two of the most charismatic and popular workers of their generation, Randy Savage and Dusty Rhodes inconceivably managed to piece together an utterly insipid feud. The pair's dire showdown at SummerSlam '90 was an appropriate conclusion to the turgid affair.

Rhodes' heart was broken by Sapphire's prostitution to Ted DiBiase, whilst Savage's was on holiday. A disinterested Macho Man could barely muster the energy for the two minutes it took to clock the depressed Dusty with a purse and bring this dreary contest to a thankful close.

Brushing over the racist undertones of the Million Dollar Man's purchase of Sapphire for a moment, the whole angle was an utter waste of time, as DiBiase's new acquisition was soon gone from the company. Life lesson: always keep your receipts.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
