A terrific main event was sadly ruined by its utterly awful finish, something even Vince Russo would've been ashamed to book. Lesnar manages to lock Taker in an arm bar, and suddenly, the bell rings, indicating the end of the match, despite the fact that referee Charles Robinson never called for the bell. Mass confusion ensues, but Taker takes advantage by hitting Brock with a low blow and locking him in the Hell's Gate. Lesnar refuses to tap, giving Taker a very PG-unfriendly middle finger and passing out, forcing Robinson to declare Taker the "winner". As Taker heads to the back, a replay reveals that he actually did tap out in the armbar. But even so, why the hell was the timekeeper taking the law into his own hands and ringing the bell? It makes no sense whatsoever and is an awkward cop-out for the fact that Taker pretty much can't beat Lesnar clean. Why didn't the booking team just make it a No DQ match to give Taker a more convenient way to win? And could this signal an impending Taker heel turn, considering that Brock was the real winner and Taker had to cheat to beat him? What a mess. What did you think of this year's SummerSlam? Shout it out in the comments!
