38 Wrestlers Who Died In 2025
8. Rodolfo Ruíz (7 September)
Rodolfo Ruíz, lovingly known throughout the Mexican wrestling scene, passed away on 7 September at 86 years old.
Born on 13 March, 1939, Ruíz became a household name through his body of work in CMLL and, later, the Universal Wrestling Association, being a three-time Mexican National Lightweight Champion and a one-time UWA Featherweight Champion, a prize he held for eleven months. He wrestled his final match, vs. Blue Panther, in 1999.
Rodolfo became an established trainer and referee for CMLL until he stepped away for good in 2011. He is survived by his son, Averno, a multi-time champion across both CMLL and AAA who is perhaps better known to western audiences as a victorious Team Mexico representative in TNA's World X Cup in 2008.
