4 Most Likely General Manager Candidates For WWE Raw & SmackDown
4. David Otunga (Raw)
David Otunga is a GM candidate that few WWE fans will be hoping for, if any. However, his potential selection and credentials cannot be denied.
Simply put, WWE has to do something to make keeping Otunga on its books worthwhile; the Harvard Law graduate and former on-screen legal advisor has played little-to-no role on WWE programming since 2012. Stephanie McMahon's vacant General Manager position could provide the opportunity for Otunga to change his course.
WWE pitting its Raw and SmackDown brands against one another is creating an obvious contrast between the two: Raw is the stern but solid show, SmackDown is the fun show. With Stephanie seeking the best possible selection, rather than the one with the highest profile, David Otunga would be the perfect man to fill the position of 'corporate stooge'.
Since the announcement of the brand extension back in May, Otunga was transferred from the WWE Network's Raw Pre-Show to the commentary table for Superstars and Main Event, even filling in for Jerry Lawler on SmackDown. It's a stretch, but maybe Otunga's position shake-up is part of reintroducing him in a larger capacity.
