It seems that WWE is heavily investing in SmackDown becoming the fun-loving brand for fans who are looking for an alternative from the norm provided on Raw. 11-time world champion Edge embodies that approach.

As quirky as WWE Network program 'The Edge and Christian Show That Totally Reeks of Awesomeness' was, it's exactly the sort of light, fun entertainment fans have been missing with their overly-serious in-ring drama.

Edge's ongoing relationship with WWE through the Network and WWE Studios shows that he clearly has an existing working relationship with the company, even appearing at Fastlane back in February. The flexibility of the role as GM - essentially a responsibility-less on-screen role - would allow Edge to continue his other pursuits in TV and film.

WWE might even throw in a curve ball and include Christian as part of Edge's potential General Managership to complete the fun-loving approach, possibly in an Assistant GM position.

Overly-opinionated Australian WWE smark who is definitely not #booty. Slowly angering the IWC one article at a time. We will probably strongly dislike each other - let's be friends! @MattKMarsden
