4 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (Feb 19 - Results & Review)

5. Destiny

WWE Raw Andrade

WWE is now two vignettes into reintroducing Andrade El Idolo, and so far, fans have learned that he’s a third-generation luchador, that he left WWE to rediscover himself, and that he’s back because of his destiny.

If you’re getting Alberto Del Rio vibes here, you would be forgiven.

In reality, if Andrade is happier being back in the same company as his wife, then that’s all that really matters. But from a storyline perspective, WWE isn’t doing him any favors with these videos that tell you nothing of substance about him. “Define my destiny” is not a character, or a persona, or even motivation.

Of course, we got the ubiquitous “era of…” comment as well, because WWE loves for its superstars to talk about themselves as an era rather than in terms of accomplishments and goals.

It's all just very lazy storytelling – if you can even call it that – for someone that was being touted as a significant free agent acquisition. There obviously is still time to really shape this up, but two weeks in and there’s very little reason to get invested.
