Ups…

4. The Man Emasculates Byron Saxton

This writer will always give an “up” to someone who puts man-child announcer Byron Saxton in his place.

(Full disclosure: It’s very possible Saxton is a nice guy and nothing like his annoying onscreen character, but the guy presented on TV is unbearable.)

Becky Lynch cut Saxton off as he started talking about her upcoming triple threat match because he started explaining how a three-person match worked (the WWE trope of telling the audience ad nauseum that the “champion doesn’t have to be involved in the finish to lose their title” spiel). Becky yelled at him, but Byron still finished his line, to her chagrin.

Later on, Saxton tried to talk about Lynch’s “past accomplishments” as if they were in the distant past, not 18 months ago. Becky laid into him, accusing the announcer of using the fact she put her career on hold due to her pregnancy against her. She might be a heel, but she cut Saxton deep without even suggesting it was a sexist remark.

All of this banter left Saxton looking more impotent than usual. And that’s enough for a plus here.
