4 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (April 22)

1. Storytelling Is King

FTR Jeff Jarrett Jay Lethal
AEW

It wasn't the best story told on Rampage mind.

That eight-man tag never hit the heights some might've hoped, but it was 90% story and 10% about the actual match. Throughout, Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal constantly tried to outshine FTR, then everyone got shirty with one another and almost lost as a result.

One spot stood out: Jarrett hit his Stroke, then demanded that Dax Harwood make the cover as they eyeballed each other. That scored the win, and led to a tense standoff between Jarrett/Lethal and FTR afterwards. Mark Briscoe suddenly rushed out to play peacemaker, which keeps his own story going too.

Jarrett and Lethal eventually challenging FTR for the AEW Tag-Team Titles sounds like a party. It'll also be interesting to see how Briscoe's relationship with both sides develops. Who is he more loyal to? Lethal or FTR? Only time will tell.

Excellent work.
