4 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (Jan 7)

1. Protective Presentation

Hook Aaron Solo
AEW

Some on social media don't seem to like the hype surrounding Hook, but...professional wrestling is all about hype. What's the alternative? That AEW present Taz's son as a stupid little rookie who doesn't belong at this level? That's not the way to go.

Everything All Elite does is geared towards shining him up.

Hook's matches are kept simple, and the way he patrols the centre of the ring following the opening bell is unique. That's something he should continue doing. Special shout out to Aaron Solo for bumping around so freely for Hook too; that helped make this short match better.

Although it is true that baby steps are better than giant leaps at this stage in his career, Hook shouldn't be torn down by fans who would also moan about the lack of care put into developing younger stars in major promotions. Hook can exist on AEW TV without being forced down everyone's throats.

This, even more so than his wins over Fuego Del Sol and Bear Bronson, felt like AEW are mindful of that.
