4 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (July 8)

Downs...

2. The Opener’s Only Downside

Eddie Kingston Konosuke Takeshita
AEW

Eddie Kingston vs. Konosuke Takeshita will play a big part in the 'Ups', don't worry. However, it'd be silly not to mention the bout's silliest moment - that deserves to be in the 'Downs' section. It didn't ruin the match, or anything, but it definitely deserves to be highlighted.

Kingston took a German suplex on the ring apron, but recovered within seconds to block a follow up outside the ring then blast Takeshita with an Exploder-plex of his own. Meanwhile, all this fan could think was: "Sell it, for f*ck sake!".

Slightly annoying.

Remember when John Cena took a DDT from Wade Barrett on concrete at SummerSlam 2010 and was fine 30 seconds later? Yeah, this was reminiscent of that, and it made the first German look useless. Worse, Konosuke was expected to sell the Exploder on mats for longer than Eddie did a suplex onto "the hardest part of the ring".
