4 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (July 8)

1. Already?!

Serena Deeb Mercedes Martinez
AEW

Serena Deeb and Mercedes Martinez worked five matches together as a tag-team. That number includes their quick fire win over Kayla Sparks and Christina Marie on this week's Rampage. So, with that in mind, it makes little sense that AEW decided to script a split this soon.

Man, their story needed way more room to breathe.

Deeb attacked Martinez post-match, which likely sets up Serena getting a crack at the ROH Women's Title come Death Before Dishonor on 23 July. They'll have a fine match, but...yeah, the whole presentation of their coming together and split was terribly rushed.

Commentary claims that Deeb and Martinez could've become "one of the best tag-teams on the planet" never sounded right either. How would that even be possible when AEW doesn't have Women's Tag belts?! What would they be fighting for?
