4 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (July 8)

Ups...

4. Gresham’s Well-Executed Turn

Arguably, Jonathan Gresham and Lee Moriarty vs. Gates Of Agony didn't need to be as long as it was. It was a near-10 minute ass kicking for Lee, after all, and Gresham never once got involved. That's forgivable considering the story they were all trying to tell though.

Namely, the 'Foundation' linking up with Tully Blanchard.

Tully distracting Gresham just as Moriarty was about to tag him in was a nice touch. That set the table for Jonathan pulling his hand away at the second attempt and leaving Lee ripe for the pickings. Gates Of Agony then wrecked shop as Gresham and Tully hugged/laughed on the ramp.

AEW followed the turn up with some routine promos that nonetheless did a wonderful job explaining why Gresham had turned. He's sick of being overlooked in All Elite, and he believes Blanchard can put more eyes on him.

Good stuff.
