4 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (July 8)

3. Beat The Sh*t Out Of Each Other

Eddie Kingston Konosuke Takeshita

Kingston vs. Takeshita was as snug as they come.

One of the most impressive things about the clash is that it was a different kind of match from Eddie's recent exploits at Blood & Guts (for example). The babyface is really showing some range, and he looks like he's having the time of his life in AEW.

Sometimes, all you need from an opening match is no frills pro wrestling. This was certainly that. These guys didn't try to lace their 10-15 minutes with countless high spots (that dodgy German on the ring apron aside), but instead smacked one another hard and told a good, competitive tale.

Now, Kingston moves on to a barbed wire brawl with Chris Jericho. That'll be something totally barbaric compared with the Rampage match, which is great. Again, having workers who can dip and dive through different styles is a major plus.
