4 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (Nov 20)

Ups...

4. Perfectly Acceptable Wrestling

Darby Allin Billy Gunn
AEW

On the plus side, for what it was, Billy Gunn vs. Darby Allin worked as a match.

Dodgy near fall and emphasis on Sting vs. Gunn aside, it showed that Billy can still go - he also clearly enjoyed working with a young lion like Darby, and Allin is at his best when he's in there against someone larger who can also do some bumping for his speedy offensive flurries.

Ultimately, complaining is futile. Yes, the 'Downs' just did, but this was a decent little match that gets Darby back on the winning trail after losing to MJF in that show-stealing match at Full Gear. Rampage showed a different side of the face-painted babyface. He's capable of playing underdog so, so well.

Again, Gunn seemed to get a kick out of that. His early tests of strength and general power-based dominance meant he looked at his best in years. As the subheading says, this was perfectly acceptable pro wrestling and a nice way to open the show.
