4 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (Jan 13)

3. Overbooked Or Totally Necessary?

Malakai Black and Brody King vs. Eddie Kingston and Ortiz is catching a lot of flak online for an "overbooked" finish. The spot at the end with Buddy Matthews running in and Julia Hart screaming could be considered overkill, but it keeps the thread of doubt and miscommunication between Kingston and Ortiz ticking along nicely.

The match was only functional at best before that moment, so they badly needed some story to give the thing purpose. It'll be interesting to see where this goes next (so long as it's not egg on face for House Of Black). Post-match, Malakai added more drama by telling Ortiz: "You did good".

That's tasty.

Honestly, some folks on Twitter must've just fancied a good moan. This guy can appreciate that, but lambasting AEW for trying to tell a story isn't necessary. What was the alternative? Kingston pins Malakai and everybody moves on? Nah.
