4 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (Jan 13)

2. ‘A’ For Effort

Willow Nightingale Ruby Riott Blood
AEW

Good God that's a lot of blood on Ruby.

Apologies to anybody who can't stomach this sort of thing, but the pic above was deliberately chosen to showcase just how much of a gusher she bled during the main event. It was sloppy at times, yep, but you can't deny that everyone worked hard to entertain and show themselves off.

Think of this as a three-tiered 'Up'. First of all, the underrated Willow Nightingale was in a featured headliner on AEW TV. That's deserved, so hopefully she can springboard out of this into something a little more long-term soon. Second, Riott looked tougher than the "two dollar steak" JR always brings up.

Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, this did all come at the end of a months-long feud between Ruby and the JAS pair. It wouldn't have made sense to let Anna Jay and Tay Melo cause so much misery without getting their comeuppance in some sort of violent stipulation bout.

What a shift, everybody.
