4 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (Jan 14)

1. A Lethal Combination

Well now, that FTW Title could be about to go up a notch.

Jay Lethal gatecrashed Rampage to chew out Ricky Starks and Taz for hiding behind bold words. The ex-ROH man did some cracking work on the mic, which won't come as a shocker to anybody who recalls his TNA run. Being fair, both Starks and Taz (obviously) gave as good as they were getting.

Everything came across as serious, and all three got the relevant points over. In the process, they teased a Starks vs. Lethal bout for the FTW belt, and possibly laid the groundwork for an AEW vs. Ring Of Honor battle down the road too. Wouldn't that be something? 'Blood & Guts II', perhaps?

Maybe that's wishful thinking, but this inter-promotional flavour stood out on Rampage. Starks has really become more comfortable as a talker since doing some commentary on Fridays as well - he's a credit to the booth these days, and that wasn't the case when he started sitting in.

Good stuff.
