4 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (Mar 18)

Ups...

Leyla Hirsch Red Velvet

Onto the good sh*t.

This writer didn't expect much from Leyla Hirsch vs. Red Velvet. It was advertised as a bid for Velvet to gain some revenge for what Leyla did to Kris Statlander during the Revolution 'Buy-In', but it defo seemed more skippable. The good news? It really, really wasn't.

Both women made the most of their time here. The jumpstart open on the ramp was a plus point, and they kept the energy up for the rest of the match (only pausing for 30 seconds or so during an ad break, which was Hirsch's heat section). Everything clicked - these ladies have some chemistry.

Velvet deserves a bit more spotlight than she gets too. Her babyface comeback section was smooth as silk, and there was some visible fire to some of the strikes she was throwing. Fans were into that, and their own interest made the match better.
